We all know that engaging in *Bhakti* (devotion) not only brings the blessings of the Divine but also bestows happiness and peace. Prayer, meditation, and *Kirtan*—these are all forms of devotion, and one should certainly practice them; however, there is yet another form of devotion known as *Seva* (selfless service), and charity is precisely such a form of service. In India, there have been—and indeed still are—extraordinary philanthropists, such as Karna, Bhamashah, and many others. Similarly, in countries like America, Japan, and Britain, there are wealthy tycoons who have donated a significant portion of their fortunes. Ultimately, what does one gain from giving? And why is it that great individuals never hold back when it comes to making donations?
