A New Chance for Childhood to Laugh Again

When a child is born, they rightfully deserve affection, safety, and guidance. But at times, due to circumstances, parents are forced to abandon their children. These children, starting life as orphans, have no arms to hold them and no one to wipe their tears. No one to love them, feed them, or shield them from life’s harshness.

Some are found abandoned amidst garbage heaps, others left on temple steps. Over time, they are forced to live alone. Their survival often depends on begging or child labor. Some are pushed toward crime, as society refuses to accept them. Such childhoods disappear in the trash heaps, crowded railway stations, or dark alleyways.

Extending Love, Safety, and Education to Orphaned Children

Seeing children begging on the roadside, picking trash, and crying from hunger, Maharaj Shri resolved that if these orphaned children are given respect, affection, education, and protection at the right time, they too can contribute to building a strong society.

Maharaj Ji believes that no child is truly orphaned or shelterless. They are a divine form of God. That is why he named this orphanage Devdoot Bal Ashram.

The foundation of this ashram was laid in 2006 in Surat, Gujarat, where more than 80 orphaned children currently reside.

Devdoot Bal Ashram is a residential school. Operated by the Vishwa Jagriti Mission, this school in Surat offers a secure, nurturing, and growth-oriented environment to underprivileged, helpless, and orphaned children of society. Here, orphaned children are provided with safe accommodation, quality education, and life guidance.

At Devdoot Bal Ashram, children are provided with quality education from Grade 1 to Grade 10. Facilities like a library and computer lab are also made available for the children. The ashram imparts not only textbook knowledge but also moral and spiritual education. Alongside this, children are introduced to yoga, meditation, and a positive lifestyle.

At Devdoot Bal Ashram, every child receives a mother’s affection and a teacher’s guidance together. The children living here are offered the following facilities:

From Helplessness to Self-Reliance

Over 200 children from Balashram have successfully reintegrated into society after receiving education and vocational training. Many of these children have pursued higher studies in fields like BBA, BCA, MCA, Information Technology, ITI, Sculpture Art, and general graduation courses.

Today, they are leading independent lives and working in well-paying jobs. Several are earning between ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 per month. One of the children has joined the Jharkhand Police Department and is proudly serving the nation, while another has become a choreographer and is active in the entertainment industry.

Children who pursued ITI education have specialized in fields such as automobile mechanics, electrical wiring, fabrication, photography, DTP, and more—using these skills to build stable livelihoods.

Alongside academics, Balashram children have actively participated in painting competitions, sports, and cultural events at district, state, and even national levels—earning numerous awards and recognition. Between 2005 and 2012, they won 7 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals in boxing championships. One child was even awarded the prestigious "India’s Best Boxer" trophy in 2006.

In the "Hausla" sports competitions, children from Balashram represented the entire state of Gujarat in football, receiving widespread praise from local leaders. They also participated in other sports under the same initiative, showcasing their talent and determination across multiple disciplines.

Free Residential School: Devdoot Balashram provides free education to children from 1st to 10th standard. Residential facilities are also provided to the children here and it is also ensured that the medium of study is very simple, inspiring and practical.

Moral and Spiritual Development: Here along with studies, children are also educated morally and spiritually so that a positive attitude can be developed in children.
