Dharmada Seva
O adjudicator of sins and virtues, Dharmaraj, be happy over me and my family. Accept the flowers of my reverence. O, Lord! We offer at your feet, the gifts that we have received by your grace. My Lord, make us a giver for a lifetime, not a taker.
Contribute with Faith and Support for the Flourishing of Dharma
In the vision of Sanatan Dharma, wealth is not meant to be held as a mere possession or a fleeting indulgence. It is entrusted to us as a sacred responsibility, woven with the breath of society, the grace of the Divine, and the bounty of nature. To use it only for oneself is to live with an incomplete sense of dharma, as if forgetting the invisible hands that made its flow possible.
Yajna-Dana-Tapah-Karma na tyajyam kaaryam eva tat
(Sacrifice, charity, and penance must never be abandoned; they are duties indeed.)
Dharmada Seva, as conducted by Vishwa Jagriti Mission, is one such divine and humanitarian initiative. Its core purpose is to inspire all individuals to donate towards the path of dharma, so that through this sacred giving, both spiritual and material upliftment can be attained.
Under this initiative, every individual can contribute 2% to 10% of their income as per their devotion. This act of giving not only benefits the donor, but also their entire family and society at large.
Offering 2% to 10%: Turning Wealth into Dharma
When we dedicate a share of our earnings (2% to 10%) to God, for temples, schools, cow shelters, child welfare, elder care, or spiritual work, it becomes more than merit. Wealth itself is sanctified, infused with the spirit of service.
Such giving brings contentment to the soul, steadies finances, and eases family ailments, hardships, and mental strain. Even the karma of generations yet to come is quietly uplifted.
Scriptural Glory of Partial Donation
Sanatan Dharma has always given significance to both dharma and karma. In the Mahabharata, King Yudhishthir fought a war for the establishment of dharma, and in the Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna guided humanity through Karma Yoga, which emphasizes selfless action and service. In the Vedic tradition too, Dharma is revered like Brahma himself.
The Shiva Mahapuran states: "Dashansh Daan api dharmarth swadharmeNa saadhayet"
Meaning, donating a tenth of one’s income for dharmic causes is the hallmark of an ideal householder.
