Vaishakh Krishna Paksha (Varuthini Ekadashi)

Varuthini Ekadashi is regarded as the Ekadashi of good fortune, protection, and destruction of sins. According to a story described in the Padma Purana, King Mandhata was once performing penance in a forest when a wild bear attacked him and severely injured his leg. The king suffered intense pain. At that time, the Lord advised him to observe the fast of Varuthini Ekadashi. By the power of this vrat, his wounds healed, and he regained health, strength, and radiance.

 

This fast is considered like a divine armor that protects a person from sins. It bestows long life, good fortune, progeny, wealth, prosperity, and mental peace. It brings stability to married life and helps in overcoming hardships and sufferings.

 

Varuthini Ekadashi is observed every year on the Ekadashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Vaishakh.
