Shri Ganesh Chaturthi (Wonderful appearance of Shri Ganesh ji)
The account of Lord Ganesha's birth is truly fascinating and serves as a unique example of the creative genius of Adishakti Mother Parvati.
Mother Parvati was advised by her two especially beloved companions, Jaya and Vijaya, to create a personal, obedient attendant of her own to guard the entrance at all times. The idea appealed to her, and—in a playful spirit—she fashioned a male form out of the impurities (scurf) of her own body, which were imbued with vital energy, and infused that form with the spark of life.
Right before the Mother's eyes, a conscious, living being appeared; addressing her as 'Mother,' he prostrated himself fully at Parvati's feet and sought her command. Recognizing this incomparably handsome, immensely strong, and mighty being, the Mother accepted him as her son and appointed him as her doorkeeper. She instructed him to stand guard at the entrance while she bathed and to ensure that no one entered without her permission until she had finished. Ganesha took his post at the door, fully committed to carrying out his Mother's command.
When Lord Shiva voluntarily attempted to enter the abode, He was barred by Ganesha—the newly created son of Goddess Shiva—leading to a fierce battle between Shiva's attendants (Ganas) and Ganesha. Although the attendants were defeated and fled, Lord Shiva, in a fit of extreme rage, severed the head of the stranger, Ganesha.
