Kanya Vaidhavya Dosha Nivaran Puja & Auspicious Kumbh Vivah
Kumbh Vivah is a Vedic expiatory sacrament where the symbolic marriage of a girl or boy is performed with a kumbh (a pot filled with water). This marriage is conducted when obstacles arise repeatedly in one’s marriage. These obstacles are often the result of planetary afflictions in the horoscope. Usually, due to the malefic sight of inauspicious planets, delays in marriage, broken engagements, hindrance in conjugal happiness, or even the fear of widowhood may arise. Hence, the scriptures prescribe Kumbh Vivah as a remedy.
In Kumbh Vivah, Lord Vishnu or Devi Shakti is invoked in the sacred pot and regarded as divine, and then the complete Vedic marriage rituals are performed.
It is believed that when a horoscope shows suffering or obstacles in marriage and spousal harmony, this symbolic marriage first transfers the negative impact of the dosha to the pot or deity. After that, the actual marriage happens smoothly, bringing fortune and auspiciousness. In simple words, Kumbh Vivah is a purification ritual performed before marriage that calms planets and situations, opening the path to marital bliss.

Kumbh Vivah: Vedic Procedure for Marital Dosha Nivaran
For marital dosha remedies through Kumbh Vivah, the ritual begins with selecting the proper muhurta, reciting lineage (gotra), and taking a vow. The process starts with Ganesh Puja, Punyah Vachan, Matrika Puja, and Navagraha Shanti. Then the pot is established and decorated. Invoking Lord Vishnu or Devi Shakti into the pot with amapatti, coconut, rice grains, durva grass, Panchagavya, and Panchamrit is done.
After this, every marriage ritual is performed such as adorning the mangalsutra, rice blessing, applying roli-kumkum, offering garments and ornaments, varmala, blessings, fire witness, saptapadi, and circumambulation.
Finally, with visarjan or uddhasan, the process of donating or immersing the pot is completed. Throughout the ritual, mantra japa like Mars-Saturn seed mantras, Durga Saptashati, Vishnu Sahasranama, fasting, charity, and discipline are also observed.
