Akshaya Tritiya: Charity and Worship that Bring Eternal Blessings
The word “Akshaya” means that which never diminishes or is never destroyed. In Sanatan Dharma, one such highly sacred and auspicious festival is Akshaya Tritiya, celebrated on the third lunar day (Tritiya) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaishakh. This year, Akshaya Tritiya will be observed on Sunday, 19 April 2026.
According to religious beliefs, all prayers, chanting, penance, charity, and good deeds performed on this day become akshaya (imperishable). Their results never end but continue to yield blessings for eternity, making this day extremely sacred and fruitful.
Akshaya Tritiya is also known as an “Aboojh Muhurat”, meaning an auspicious time that does not require a specific astrological calculation. Important activities such as marriages, housewarming ceremonies, and starting new businesses can be performed without consulting a priest or checking a calendar, as the entire day is considered highly auspicious.
