This Diwali, feel the joy of giving | Feed the hungry, receive the blessings

This Diwali, Feel the Joy of Giving

Diwali, the festival of lights, is also an opportunity to share our blessings with the needy. It is the occasion to participate in noble causes and seek blessings from God.

When we give selflessly, we not only bring happiness to those who need it most but also receive the blessings of Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi for health, happiness, and prosperity.

And for that matter, in the festive season, nothing is nobler than feeding the hungry. Because on Diwali, while we light up our homes, feast on delicious food, and share gifts, it’s essential to remember those who struggle to fulfil fundamental needs like food.

Therefore, this Diwali, experience the joy of sharing by feeding the hungry.

Immerse Yourself in the True Spirit of Diwali

Diwali signifies the triumph of light over darkness and righteousness over evil.

We celebrate the festival by lighting earthen lamps and decorating homes, yet the true essence of the festival lies in uplifting others. It reminds us that the joy we receive from giving is far greater than enjoying it alone.

Feeding the hungry is a powerful way to honour the festival’s deeper meaning and spread light in the lives of the needy by removing the darkness of hunger and poverty.

The Darkness of Hunger

Despite the abundance of food and resources available around them, hunger remains a disturbing reality for a large number of people. Just because they can’t afford it.

While many of us enjoy delicious food during Diwali, countless children go to bed hungry, unable to afford even a single meal.

By contributing a small amount, we can help alleviate their suffering to some extent and make a meaningful impact on their lives during this festive season.

The impact of feeding the hungry

Food is a basic necessity for survival, but for many, it remains a luxury.

By feeding the hungry, we give them the strength to face another day and the hope for a better future.

This simple yet profound gesture carries deep spiritual significance, as our Sanatan culture emphasize the importance of sharing food and helping those in need.

During Diwali, feeding the hungry symbolizes removing the darkness of suffering and hunger from their lives, replacing it with the light of nourishment and hope.

How can you feed the hungry during festive season?

While you engage in making this festive season joyful, take a moment to spread the joy among those who need your kindness.

You can do it easily.

Annadaan on Diwali

Sharing food symbolizes prosperity. And donating food on Diwali is a tradition rooted in the festival’s essence of sharing and caring for others.

Extend your kindness to the less fortunate, ensuring everyone can enjoy the festivities regardless of their circumstances. As Annadaan is considered to be Mahadaan, it is equivalent to offering food to God. The act of Annadaan is a selfless service, which helps you develop kindness towards all.

By performing Annadaan, you can purify your karma and receive the blessings of the poor.

Joining VJM’s Mid-day meal programs

Vishwa Jagriti Mission (VJM) runs mid-day meal programs for all the children who are studying at its schools and Gurukuls across India.

You are welcome to join Project Mid-day Meal, where you can sponsor a one-time meal for our school children for a minimum period of one year.

For as little as INR 4000–10,000, you can feed a student in our school, helping him or her complete education without facing classroom hunger.

Your small contribution has the power to bring about a better academic situation for poor and marginalised children at VJM institutions.

Distributing gift packets among Gurukul students

On Diwali, you can gift Gurukul Rishi Kumar’s the goodness of nutrition.

These children come from challenging socio-economic backgrounds, yet their willpower to pursue Vedic education and achieve their dreams defeats all the hurdles.

You can fill your day with genuine joy and contentment by distributing food packets among them.

This Diwali, make a choice for gifting a meal and enhance your festive joy

Make Diwali 2024 a memorable one for yourself and your loved ones. Here are some ways you can brighten up a child’s life with nutrition and health:

So, come multiply the joy of Diwali by ensuring nutritious food for school children.

Let’s bring smiles to their faces for making this festive season special for them and for ourselves.

Happy Diwali!

Thousands gather in Rohini, Delhi, for the delightful 4-Day Guru Purnima Mahotsav with HH Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj and Dr. Archika Didi

Delhi – July 21, 2024: The spiritual landscape of Rohini, Delhi, was vibrant with devotion and divine energy as thousands of devotees, disciples, and seekers gathered for the 4-day Guru Purnima Mahotsav, held from July 18 to July 21, 2024.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of His Holiness Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj and Dr. Archika Didi, whose guidance created an atmosphere of profound blessings and spiritual bliss.

The 4-day Mahotsav featured spiritually enriching programs designed to deepen the connection between Guru and Shishya.

The program was organized at The Golden Decor (Shakti Tent), Rohini, Sector 12, Delhi.

The founder and spiritual guide of Vishwa Jagriti Mission, His Holiness Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj, inaugurated the program on 18th July.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Param Pujya Maharajshri said, “Everything in this world brings attachment to humans, and the one who is detached from this illusion, gets connected to God. Guru shows the way to live without attachment. Devotees address God by various names. God is omnipresent, and He is omnipotent. The dynamism in the world is due to God alone. God is the power behind every change in the world.”

Maharajshri also said, “People should live life with such realization of God and also with the spirit of seva, and it is only with the inspiration of Guru that a person introspects and adopts the path of self-improvement and spiritual development.”

During the program, Vice President of Vishwa Jagriti Mission and Yoga Guru, Dr. Archika Didi Ji, said, “They are fortunate whose consciousness is awakened by the grace of a Guru. Fragrant flowers of peace and happiness bloom in their lives.”

Didi Ji further said, “Whatever seeds we plant on the earth, we plant them in a particular season. Similarly, to get the fruit of happiness, a special kind of season has to be created within us. Awaken the season of faith in God and the Guru within you. Make it a habit to do every task happily and love your work. Try to bring novelty to your work every day. There is novelty in nature; connect with nature. Improve your life by getting inspired daily by the holy scriptures and Guru.”

In addition to various spiritual practices, the Mahotsav also included discourses by His Holiness Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj and Dr. Archika Didi.

Their teachings provided deep insights into the essence of Guru Purnima and its significance in a devotee’s spiritual journey.

The Special Guru Purnima Program on 21st July, a highlight of the event, brought together various devotional activities. It also involved live Purnima Darshan, which delighted devotees and seekers.

Key highlights of the 4-day program included the Guru Mantra Siddhi Sadhana, a practice aimed at achieving perfection in the sacred Guru Mantra; Divya Shaktipat Kriya, an ancient technique for the transmission of Guru’s energy for empowering disciples; Guru Mantra Diksha, the initiation ceremony under the guidance of Maharajshri; and the much-anticipated Live Purnima Darshan, where devotees experienced the divine sight of Param Pujya Maharajshri.

On the second day of Guru Purnima Mahotsav, Shri Mohinder Goyal Ji, honourable member of Legislative Assembly, Delhi Assembly Constituency, Rithala, also visited the Guru Purnima Mahotsav venue to take blessings from Maharajshri.

Many other dignitaries including Shri Govind Chaudhary Ji (Director Anmol Biscuit), Shri Pawan Gupta Ji (Proprietor PP Jewelers, New Delhi) also came to seek the blessings.

Disciples and seekers from VJM Canada chapter, VJM Dubai chapter, and VJM Hong Kong chapter also joined the program and expressed their gratitude towards Maharajshri and Didi Ji for organizing such a grand and blissful Guru Purnima Mahotsav in the national capital. The event was a testament to the deep spiritual bond between Guru and disciples, as devotees from across the region flocked to Delhi to join the Mahotsav.

The serene and sacred atmosphere at the program venue provided an ideal setting for introspection, meditation, initiation, and spiritual rejuvenation.

As the Mahotsav drew to a close, devotees expressed their gratitude for the divine experiences and blessings they received.

The 4-day grand event underscored the timeless wisdom of the Guru-Shishya Parampara and the transformative power of divine grace and Guru’s guidance.

The Transformative Power of Guru Purnima in Our Lives

The Transformative Power of Guru Purnima in Our Lives

“If you want, you may miss Guru Darshan on festivals like Holi or Dipawali, but never miss being in the company of your Guru on Guru Purnima, for it is the biggest and most important festival for disciples. The day has the power to bring positive transformation into a disciple’s life.”

-HH Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj

Guru Purnima, a beautiful and ancient tradition, stands as a testament to the strong bond between a Guru and their disciples. This sacred day, dedicated to expressing gratitude to the Guru, carries profound significance in the spiritual calendar of any Guru devotee.

The transformative power of Guru Purnima lies not only in the rituals performed but also in the deep-seated recognition of the Guru’s crucial role in guiding devotees, disciples, and seekers towards happiness, blissfulness, self-knowledge, progress, and inner peace.

The sacred celebration transforms Guru’s devotees by deepening their spiritual connection, filling them with gratitude, and strengthening devotion. The holy rituals and teachings received during this auspicious day inspire self-reflection, personal growth, and renewed commitment to the Guru’s path, enhancing the devotee’s spiritual journey and inner peace.

Celebrated with zeal and devotion, it is a day that underscores the timeless wisdom imparted by our Gurus, His Holiness Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj and Dr. Archika Didi.

Guru Purnima: An Occasion to Bring Perfection to Your Spiritual Life

Param Pujya Maharajshri says, “Life is a long journey. In the course of this journey, the inner world of any human being cannot stay untouched by some Tamasic attributes and negativities that weaken and sometimes completely suppress ‘Saubhagya’—the divine element that makes life happy and prosperous.

“To awaken Saubhagya, or good luck, and get a protective shield that not only protects a human from life’s inevitable turbulence but also motivates him or her to make consistent progress in life, a devotee goes for Guru Darshan, especially on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima.”

“Guru Purnima has a great significance when it comes to the sacred bond between a Guru and devotee. Certain times are of immense importance in life, for example, the day on which a person takes birth or the first day of a new year on which we make a resolution to start life afresh; likewise, in the spiritual realm, Guru Purnima can be considered a new day or a fresh year for a Guru devotee.”

“On this Vyas Parv, it is important for every disciple to visit his or her Guru and elaborate on his or her spiritual progress; take Sankalp (resolution) to further make progress and reach new heights in life.”

Guru Purnima: The Most Important Festival for Disciples

Param Pujya Maharajshri also says, “Guru Purnima is an opportunity when everyone gathers at the Guru Dham, contemplates in the company of Guru, and such a congregation opens the door to self-reflection, joy, and progress in life.”

“India is a land of festivals. In some festivals, we express our reverence toward God, like Ram Navami and Janmashtami. There are also festivals to celebrate certain relationships, like Raksha Bandhan and Karva Chuath. Likewise, there is also a festival that celebrates a relationship that is above any relationship in this world—the bond of a Guru and disciple.”

“Guru Purnima is the day to express gratitude, receive affection from Guru, get connected to His grace, and get ready to make life precious with His blessings.”

“So, this Vyas Parv or Guru Purnima is celebrated, and it is an occasion that brings perfection to anybody’s spiritual life, just like the moon that displays its matchless beauty on the night of Purnima, and it looks just perfect.”

“Everyone should endeavor to give his or her life such timeless beauty and perfection. And Guru Purnima is the occasion to realize such a transformation in life. If you want, you may miss Guru Darshan on festivals like Holi or Dipawali, but never miss being in the company of Guru on Guru Purnima, for it is the biggest and most important festival for disciples. The day has the power to bring positive transformation into a disciple’s life.”

Therefore, on Guru Purnima, disciples gather to honor Param Pujya Maharajshri’s contributions to their spiritual journeys. The day begins with meditation sessions, reflecting His teachings on mindfulness and inner tranquility. Devotees listen to spiritual discourses where the profound wisdom of Maharajshri is shared, reminding everyone of the path of righteousness and self-discipline.

A Day of Seva, Guided Meditations, Healing Practices, and Insightful Discourses

A quintessential aspect of Maharajshri’s teachings is the practice of seva (selfless service). Therefore, on Guru Purnima, disciples in India and abroad partake in various social service activities, embodying the spirit of giving and compassion that He teaches. These acts of kindness are seen as offerings to the Guru, symbolizing their commitment to the principles he upholds.

The day culminates in a special prayer ceremony where devotees express their gratitude and seek blessings for continued guidance on their spiritual paths.

Furthermore, on Guru Purnima, devotees celebrate Dr. Archika Didi’s contributions to their spiritual lives with equal enthusiasm. Her sessions on Guru Purnima include guided meditations, healing practices, and insightful discourses that inspire devotees to delve deeper into their spiritual consciousness. Her approach to spirituality is both contemporary and accessible, resonating particularly with the younger generation.

On Guru Purnima, her teachings reach a wider audience through live broadcasts and online sessions, allowing devotees from around the world to participate in the celebrations. The inclusive nature of her approach ensures that the wisdom of the Guru is accessible to all, regardless of geographical boundaries.

Guru Purnima Celebration with Maharajshri and Didi Ji.

The celebration of Guru Purnima under the guidance of His Holiness Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj and Dr. Archika Didi serves as a poignant reminder of the transformative power of a Guru’s guidance. It is a day that transcends mere ritual, fostering a deep connection between the Guru and the disciple.

The essence of Guru Purnima lies in its ability to awaken the latent potential within individuals, guiding them towards a life of virtue, wisdom, and inner peace.

The Vital Role of Tree Plantation in Environmental Conservation

Tree Plantation Drive

Today, as we witness the alarming impacts of global warming, the Tree Plantation Drive by Vishwa Jagriti Mission proves to be a crucial initiative in maintaining ecological balance and combating climate change.

Initiated in 2013, this noble drive is an annual event organised on the occasion of Ullas Parv, celebrating the birthday of HH Shri Sudhanshu Ji Maharaj. Known as Paryavaran Pakhwada, the 15-day event is organised by all 84 mandals across the country, during which thousands of trees are planted.

Trees play a significant role in our lives in many ways.

Here are some reasons highlighting the importance of tree plantations:

  1. Oxygen and air purification: Trees provide us with oxygen and absorb harmful pollutants, making our air cleaner and healthier to breathe.
  2. Food and nourishment: Trees offer us fruits, nuts, and other edible delights that sustain us and provide vital nutrients.
  3. Shelter and habitat: Trees provide a home for countless species of animals, insects, and microorganisms, supporting biodiversity and ecosystems.
  4. Climate regulation: Trees help regulate the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide, mitigating the effects of climate change.
  5. Emotional and spiritual connection: Trees have a profound impact on our mental and emotional well-being, offering shade, comfort, and a sense of connection to nature.
  6. Inspiration and wisdom: Trees have been a source of inspiration for art, literature, and philosophy throughout human history, symbolising strength, resilience, and wisdom.
  7. Soil conservation and water cycles: Tree roots hold soil in place, preventing erosion, and help regulate water cycles, maintaining healthy water sources.
  8. Medicinal properties: Trees have been a source of medicine for centuries, providing natural remedies for various ailments.
  9. Aesthetic beauty: Trees add beauty and character to our surroundings, creating stunning landscapes and scenic vistas.
  10. Symbolism and cultural significance: Trees hold cultural, spiritual, and symbolic meanings in many societies, representing life, growth, and renewal.

Creating a Greener, Safer, and Healthier Planet Together

Initiatives like tree plantation campaigns are extremely important to raise awareness about environmental conservation and sustainability. Through this tree planting campaign, Vishwa Jagriti Mission is fulfilling its responsibilities towards enhancing the environment and containing biodiversity loss. Why do we Celebrate Guru Purnima?

Why do we celebrate Guru Purnima?

In the beautiful Indian tradition, the full moon day of the Ashadha period is Guru Purnima. This year, we will celebrate Guru Purnima on July 3, Monday. But why do we celebrate it?

According to the legends, Ved Vyas, the sage who penned The Mahabharat, was born on this day to Satyavati and Sage Parashar. He was a great scholar who gave the world four beautiful texts: the Rig Veda, Yajur Ved, Sam Ved, and Atharva Ved. And we offer our gratitude to Sage Ved Vyas on this day.
Folklore also says that Lord Shiva commenced the teachings of yoga to the Saptarishis on this day, and Guru Purnima is a way to revere Him.
The day, therefore, is of great importance in India as it continues to celebrate the Guru-Shishya tradition since times immemorial.
On this day, one must visit their Guru, offer obeisance, renew the pledge of discipleship and self-awakening and seek His blessings for another 365 days of holistic living filled with Divine Grace, good health and prosperity.

It is the full moon day in the Shukla Paksha of the Aashaadha month. During this time, the Moon stays in the house of Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter. It also stays in the Purvashadha Nakshatra, which is ruled by Venus. This positioning of the moon has an important holistic impact on an individual’s body, especially their mind and heart.

Not only that ,Jupiter (Lord Brihaspati) is said to be the Guru of all Gods and devotees regard them as the planet of wisdom. Devotees believe  that the unique positioning of the planet, the moon and the earth works as a catalyst for a disciple seeking God-realization and salvation. Guru is also the one who eradicates darkness and spreads the light of divine wisdom not only in his disciple’s life but all around. Thus, the tradition of worshipping The Guru on this day has been given great importance in Hinduism since ancient times. Disciples and students express their gratitude towards their Gurus, God, and teachers on this day in different ways. It is also a practice to seek live Darshan of your Guru on this day.

On the other hand, people  also believe  that astrologically during this auspicious time the Gurus radiate stronger positivity and divine grace all around them that can be absorbed by the disciple who has prepared himself for this day. The positive energy from the Guru enhances the moral, physical, spiritual, and materialistic growth of the disciple. Thus, recognize the significance of this day and seek darshan of your Guru and offer your gratitude too.
