Let's Help Needy Women in Acquiring and Upgrading their Skills Without Placing a Financial Burden on Them

The skill development program will ensure that girls and women enrolled at VJM’s Kaushal Vikas Kendra, Faridabad, have the required skills to become employable and develop entrepreneurial capabilities. The program will enable underprivileged girls and women to continue their school education along with skill development. The training facilities will be free and the benefits thereby will encourage more girls and women, belonging to any economic background, to enroll in skill development courses and open doors to job and business opportunities.

Objective of the Skill Development Program

One of the key objectives of VJM’s skill development program is to encourage and support girl students and women to continue education while developing skills in the beauty, wellness, and apparel sectors through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) approved courses. And that will happen if we have enough resources, trainers, and infrastructure to enrol more needy girls and women. As a society, we have to come forward and invest in the skill development of such women who cannot afford it, and when we do that, we witness a big impact on communities and society.

VJM Activities/Solution to Tackle Unskillfulness Among Women

VJM is working tirelessly to improve the efficiency and transparency of its skill development programs. VJM ensures that free training facilities reach those women and girls who need them most, working with volunteers and a large family of donors.

Project Skill Development is a participatory program where you can sponsor a training centre for women and girls for a minimum period of one year. For as little as INR 5000–15,000, you can train a woman in our centre, helping her complete her training without any difficulty.

As a sponsor, you will receive photographs and profiles of women and girls benefiting from your support, followed by periodic progress reports.

Your small contribution has the power to bring about better conditions for needy women and girls at VJM institutions.

Our Work

At VJM, we’re committed to doing everything we can to give skill development training to needy girls and women. We engage with parents, volunteers, trainers, and communities to meet the essential needs of beneficiaries.

The majority of the women supported by VJM have been saved from poverty, rag picking, child labour, and domestic violence. We wish to assist them in becoming self-sufficient and responsible citizens. With the help of donations, supporters, and volunteers, we support them morally, socially, and financially.

Vishwa Jagriti Mission is registered under Section 80(G) (5) of the Income Tax Act and whosoever donates to VJM is eligible to get a 50% tax deduction on the amount paid by them if the donated amount does not exceed 10% of their Gross Total Income.

Why Donate

VJM has several plans for skill development to improve employment opportunities for women and girls.

These programs not only provide the vocational training needed to improve job prospects but also help develop the overall personality, enhance proficiency, and improve communication and social skills. The skill development programs also help them identify their talents. It helps them develop flexibility, efficiency, and productivity. All of this goes on to improve their chances of a good life.

Needless to say, a skill development and training centre for girls and women, VJM’s Kaushal Vikas Kendra, Faridabad, will help candidates in every possible way. Till now, we have assisted 150 girls in starting work of their choice after training. We have a 99% retention rate.

At our centre, we make all efforts to increase the enrollment of students. We do surveys, make door-to-door visits, distribute pamphlets, visit schools and colleges, etc. for this purpose. We also make parents understand how these skill courses will empower them and their wards and make them and their wards financially independent.

Our team surveys the neighbourhood areas to find out where all the girls are not going to school or are sitting idle at home. Our team runs campaigns to recruit girls for training.

As a society, we need to understand that without providing adequate training facilities for women and girls, we cannot see them in a better financial and social position. For that, we need the small contributions of kind hearts like yours, your families, relatives, friends, and well-wishers donating for the cause.

A small investment in needy candidates’ training program is the least we can do to build a better society around ourselves.

The Challenge Of Unskillfulness Faced By Girls And Women In India

Women and girls from rural areas, slums, urban poor families, tribal communities, scheduled castes, and other marginalized populations suffer from multiple deprivations related to poverty, which also include a lack of skills.

Due to a lack of resources, they fail to acquire enough skills to be employable and end the vicious cycle of poverty. They lack cognitive skills, socio-emotional skills, technical skills, and digital skills. This unskillfulness leads to poverty, early marriage, malnutrition, and various other social ills and disorders that affect young girls and women directly.

Women entrepreneurship in India is traditionally concentrated in low-skill and informal sectors. This is primarily due to the lack of access to customised training programmes, suited to their specific requirements.
In India, 3 out of every 4 women do not take part in any recognised economic activity. In such a scenario, when more than half of our youth do not participate in the formal labour force, it is difficult to realise India’s demographic advantage.
Nearly one in three young Indians between the ages of 15 and 29 is not engaged in education, employment, or training, and the numbers are even worse when it comes to women alone, according to the latest Multiple Indicator Survey (MIS) report of the government’s National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), released in 2023.
At the heart of all economies lies a skilled workforce. We need to increase investment in education and in training, reskilling and upskilling workers, especially those at risk of being left behind – women and youths from marginalized communities – if we are to build inclusive, green and just economies. -UN.
Globally girls have higher survival rates at birth, are more likely to be developmentally on track, and just as likely to participate in preschool, but India is the only large country where more girls die than boys. Girls are also more likely to drop out of school. It is critical to enhance the value of girls by investing in and empowering them, with education, life skills, sport and much more.
Empowering girls requires focused investment and collaboration. Providing girls with the services and safety, education and skills they need in daily life can reduce the risks they face and enable them to fully develop and contribute to India’s growth.
Despite rapid economic growth, declining fertility, and an increase in education of women in India over the past three decades, the female workforce participation rate – proportion of women who are working – in the country continues to remain low. In fact, it has shown a precipitous and persistent decline since 1987. While the low levels are often attributed to social norms around the gendered division of domestic work and status concerns, the declining involvement of women in agriculture with little diversification to other non-farm sectors points to a lack of mobility and skills.
